About Rebecca
I grew up in the Flinders Ranges in South Australia where I lived both close to the sea and the ancient ranges of red rock and earth.
It was here, immersed in the country that my appreciation for nature was unknowingly created.
Later in life my deeper connection to Mother Earth was unveiled.
Though this may be a similar tale to some, it wasn't until tragedy, loss and time in the dark that I found myself lost and yearning for more clarity and purpose.
Growing through the pain and finally feeling grounded in life I had direction once again and my creativity began to blossom.
It wasn't long before I challenged myself and I was at my local pottery supplier where I bought my first bag of clay, some tools and soon enough a second hand wheel.
I am self taught but thanks to perseverance and determination I now have a deep love for clay in both handbuilding and wheel throwing.
The most magical part of Sun Sea Clay is that my two children are part of this journey by making, glazing and photographing.
I am grateful for endless learning, forever making connections and also that I get to create unique and bespoke pieces of art which I am pleased to share with you that last beyond a lifetime.
“Here is to the little girl who always made mud pies and to the woman
now turning mud into items that last forever”
